Tuesday Roundup: Hampton Takes Two From Unicoi; Lady ‘Landers, Lady Warriors Take Wins

Hampton 88, Unicoi County 86 OT
The Bulldogs outlasted a pesky Unicoi squad in overtime on Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 22-9 lead early in the contest, but the Blue Devils trimmed the lead to 26-21 after a quarter of play. The teams kept trading shots before the Blue Devils took their first lead of the night late in the fourth quarter.

Hampton, however, answered to force overtime and then held on for the win in the extra period.

Michael Harrison had 22 points, while Conor Burleson had 21 points. Cadon Buckles had 13 points.

Dalton Holtsclaw had 12 points for the Bulldogs.

Johnson County 56, Happy Valley 39
The Warriors were unable to battle back from an early deficit.

Johnson County jumped out to a 9-4 lead in the first quarter and stretched the advantage to 30-14 at the half.
HV kept fighting but was unable to make a rally in the second half.

Landon Babb had 10 points to lead the Warriors, while Blake Garmon and James Murray had seven points apiece.

Girls
Cloudland 41, Volunteer 29
It was a back-and-forth battle in Roan Mountain with Cloudland coming out on top.

After falling behind 8-2 in the first quarter, the Lady ‘Landers reeled off a 16-3 run in the second quarter to take an 18-11 halftime lead.

Volunteer battled back to trim the Cloudland lead to one-point heading to the fourth quarter, but the Lady ‘Landers ended the game on a 14-3 run to take the win.

Ella Benfield had 19 points for Cloudland, while Isabella Christman added 12 points.

Hampton 80, Unicoi County 53
The Lady Bulldogs slowly pulled away from Unicoi County on Tuesday night.

Hampton held a 13-10 lead after a quarter of play and pushed that to 36-26 at the half.

From there, the Lady Bulldogs kept their foot on the gas to take the win.

Macy Henry had 29 points to lead the way, while Linsey Jenkins added 12 points. Madi McClain tossed in 10 points for the Hampton cause.

Happy Valley 35, Johnson County 25
Kadie Bailey and Holly Moore had 11 points apiece as HV pulled away to take a win in Mountain City.

Scarlett Zeoli had seven points for HV.
