Unaka Unable To Rally At Hancock County

Unaka was unable to rally on Friday night.

The Ranger fought back from an early deficit but fell 34-22 to Hancock County in Sneedville in Region 1-A play.

After Hancock County jumped out to a 14-0 lead, Unaka battled back.

Jacob Carrier put the Rangers on the board as he raced 45 yards for a touchdown after a mishandled handoff. TJ Pareenteau found Ashton Fuller for the two-point conversion as UHS trimmed the lead to 14-8.

The Indians scored in the final minute of the first to take a 22-8 lead at the half.

Hancock County opened the second half scoring early in the third quarter, but Unaka countered as Carrier hit Asher Dunn for a 31-yard touchdown pass midway through the quarter.

Hancock countered quickly with a short touchdown run late in the quarter.

The Rangers answered again as Carrier and Dunn connected for an 18-yard touchdown pass.

However, Unaka was unable to keep the rally going.
