Warriors Fall Short In District 1-2A Quarterfinals

The Happy Valley boys’ basketball team was unable to extend the season on Tuesday night.

The No. 4 Warriors came up short in a 66-47 decision to No. 5 West Greene in the District 1-2A quarterfinals at Daniel Boone High School.

The loss concludes Happy Valley’s season, while West Greene advanced to take on No. 1 Chuckey-Doak in the semifinals.

Happy Valley came out of the gates quickly.

TJ Good scored the first seven points of the game to give HV an early lead, and the Warriors took a 10-0 lead after an AJ Campell 3-pointer. West Greene, however, used a run of their own to close the gap.

Happy Valley led 15-14 at the end of the first.

The teams traded shots in the early minutes of the second before West Greene went on a 15-0 run to take a 33-21 lead into the locker room.

Darian Jackson, Dylan Furr, and Artee Bahn hit big shots for HV to help the Warriors trim the gap, but WG was able to push the lead back out to take a 47-34 advantage into the fourth.

In the final quarter, Happy Valley kept battling but was unable to rally.

Good finished with 11 points to lead HV, while Jackson had nine points. Furr scored eight points.

Campbell and Bahn scored six points apiece.

Braden McCamey led West Greene with 25 points, and Conner Campbell had 21 points.
