Abbey Gouge delivered for the ‘Landers in walk-off fashion on Wednesday.
The senior scored a two-run single to score Leah Birchfield and Gracie Freeman to propel CHS past the Lady Warriors in Roan Mountain.
Freeman was 3-for-4 at the plate to pace Cloudland. Heaven Caraway and Jasmine Birchfield added two hits apiece.
Kenzie Birchfield recorded seven strikeouts in the complete-game win.
Happy Valley was paced by Makaela Hughes as she had three hits and Olivia Kelly tallied two hits for the Lady Warriors cause.
Gate City (Va.) 10, Elizabethton 5 (softball)
The Lady Cyclones were unable to recover from a strong Gate City second inning as the Lady Blue Devils scored five runs in the second.
Macie Herrmann, Lauren Brickey and Maci West each went 1-for-3 in the game. Brickey and West had two RBI while Herrmann recorded an RBI.
