After an incredible run, a pair of teams from Stoney Creek was named the Best of Carter County Sports Female Teams of the Year.

Unaka saw both the Lady Rangers Basketball and Lady Rangers Softball team selected as Female Teams of the Year as both reached the state tournament in their respective sports.

The Lady Rangers Basketball program advanced to the state final four in Murfreesboro to cap off an impressive season.

Unaka saw momentum switch to their side in the postseason as UHS were runner-ups in the District 1-A title and then rolled to the Region 1-A tournament title. The Lady Rangers edged Tellico Plains in substate action before dispatching Wartburg in the opening round of the state tournament.

The Lady Rangers finished the season 28-11.

On the softball diamond, the Lady Rangers rolled to a District 1-A crown with a dominant regular season.

Unaka scored early and often most games en route to picking up the District 1-A and Region 1-A Tournament titles. After dispatching Tellico Plains in the substate, Unaka picked up a win in the Class A tournament but was unable to edge back into their two final games.

The Lady Rangers softball team finished with a 29-14 record.

Both programs join the Elizabethton baseball team as Best of Carter County Sports honorees so far this summer. Keep checking back for more honorees!
