Friday Round-up: Bulldog Pick Up Two Wins; Lady Rangers, Lady Cyclones Come Up Short

Hampton 7, Happy Valley 4
The Bulldogs used a big sixth inning in the top of the sixth to take a win on Warrior Hill.

After both teams plated a run in the first inning, Hampton scored two runs in the top of the second to take a 3-1 lead. HV added a run in the bottom of the fifth to close the gap, but Hampton plated four runs in the top of the sixth to take control.

Happy Valley continued to fight as they scored two runs in the seventh but were unable to keep the rally going.

Chance Point was 3-for-4, while Noah Nichols recorded three RBI.

Elisha Henson and Chase Davenport had two RBI and two hits, respectively.

Henson picked up the win on the mound as he allowed just one earned run on one hit with seven strikeouts.

Ty Johnson recorded a hit for the Warriors, while Tucker Shoun and Colton Johnson each tallied an RBI.

In five innings of work on the mound, Johnson struck out seven batters and allowed just two earned runs on six hits.

Hampton 14, FCA Flames 11
The Bulldogs capped a busy Friday with a second road game against the FCA Flames and picked up their second win of the night.

After holding a 5-3 lead after three complete innings, Hampton plated nine runs in the fourth to take control.

The Flames were able to slowly close the gap, but Hampton was able to hold on for the win.

Henson went 3-for-5 with two RBI, while Jayden Kuhn and Landon Buchanan went 2-for-4 with two RBI apiece. Point added two RBI.

Kuhn struck out eight batters in three innings of work while Parker Williams struck out five batters in three innings of work.

Chuckey-Doak 12, Unaka 0
The Rangers came up short on Friday evening.

Robert Humphries recorded a hit for the Rangers and also struck out four batters on the mound. Micah Gray added a hit for Unaka.

Softball
The King’s Academy 6, Unaka 4
The Lady Rangers dropped a hard-fought battle on the road Friday evening.

After Unaka opened the scoring with two runs in the top of the first, The King’s Academy answered with four of their own in the bottom of the first.

Unaka added a run in the visiting side of the fifth, but TKA pushed the lead back to 6-3 after five complete.

The Lady Rangers continued to battle and were able to get the tying run at the plate, but were unable to keep the rally going.

Jill Faust was 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Haley Taylor added three hits. Mollie Buckles and Taylor Grindstaff each had a hit.

Kimberly Profitt allowed just one earned run on four hits with four strikeouts in a complete-game effort.

Johnson Central (Ky.) 7, Elizabethton 1
The Lady Cyclones came up short on the first day of their Kentucky road trip.

Mollie Johnson tallied a hit and an RBI for the Lady Cyclones, while Piper Bennett added a hit. Both hits were doubles.

Lela Byrd struck out six batters in just under four innings of work with no earned runs on five hits.

Cherokee 21, Hampton 0
The Lady Bulldogs were unable to answer a pair of big innings by the Lady Chiefs.

Hannah Smith, Mallory Lamb, Emma Hughes, Bella Setlock, and Dru Nickles each had a hit for Hampton.
