Hampton picked up where they left off last week.
The Bulldogs steamrolled Johnson County 54-22 in a nonconference match-up in Mountain City.
The Longhorns, however, struck first as Nathan Arnold threw a 13-yard touchdown pass for the game’s first points. Hampton answered as Jason Russell hit Dakota Crumley with a 25-yard toss, and the two-point conversion as good giving the Bulldogs an 8-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Adam McClain added to the HHS lead with a 76-yard run and the Russell conversion pushed the lead to 16-7. The senior McClain added another score with just under three minutes to give the Bulldogs a 24-7 halftime lead.
The Longhorns opened the scoring in the third quarter, but Russell connected with Crumbly again to answer. A Hunter Davenport touchdown pushed the Hampton lead to 48-22 heading to the fourth quarter.
Skylar Cole got in the scoring act for in the fourth quarter with a pick six.
McClain finished with 166 yards on 15 carries, while Crumley had two catches for an impressive 70 yards.
The Bulldogs return to the road next Friday with a trip to Cosby.
