For two days, the two shades of blue in Carter County came together as one.
The Cloudland and Hampton faithful who followed their junior high teams to Murfreesboro showed that on the state’s biggest stage that Carter County Strong isn’t just a saying – it is a reality.
During the two-day event, both communities cheered on the other, helped pick the teams up and provided a home court advantage some 300 miles away from home. It wasn’t “only support my school,” but it was a “support my community and my neighbors” mindset for both schools.
It was a quite a sight, and a powerful sight at that, seeing Cloudland and Hampton fans cheering as one. From Cloudland parents painting Hampton H’s and Cloudland C’s on faces to the Hampton cheerleaders cheering alongside the Cloudland cheerleaders, it was a great reflection of what Carter County Strong means.
Not to be overshadowed in the least, the players on both teams certainly made everyone proud. Tonight, as they reflect on what could have been, those words probably ring hollow. However, neither the Jr. Lady ‘Landers and the Jr. Bulldogs should hang their heads – in fact they should hold them up high.
At the end of the game things didn’t go the way the Carter County contingent wanted. However, both squads were winners in their own rights at the end of the day because of the way that they carried themselves and represented the communities.
Take a bow, Jr. Lady ‘Landers and Jr. Bulldogs – you certainly earned it.
