The brackets for the District 1-A tournament are set.
The tournament is set to tip off Friday, Feb. 21 and run through Tuesday, Feb. 25 at Daniel Boone High School.
On the girls’ side, North Greene was the No. 1 seed, while Cloudland was No. 2 after seeding was determined by tiebreakers. Both squads received a bye and a berth in next week’s Region 1-A tournament.
The girls’ tournament will open as No. 4 Hampton will take on No. 5 Sullivan North at 4p on Friday with the winner advancing to take on North Greene, while No. 3 Unaka will square off against No. 6 University High at 7p with the winner moving on to face Cloudland.
Both winners on Friday will advance to the Region 1-A tournament.
Saturday’s slate will see No. 1 North Greene and the winner of the No. 4 Hampton/No. 5 Sullivan North play at 3p with the No. 2 Cloudland and the winner of No. 3 Unaka/No. 6 University High play at 6p.
The District 1-A Championship game is set for Monday, Feb. 24 at 7:30p, while the consolation game is also on Monday with a 6p tipoff.
On the boys’ side, Hampton captured the top seed, while North Greene was slotted at No. 2. Both teams received byes and Region 1-A tournament berths.
The boys’ tournament play will open at 5:30p on Friday as No. 4 Sullivan North will take on No. 5 Cloudland in a win-or-go home game. The opening day of the tournament will conclude with No. 3 University High battling No. 6 Unaka at 8:30p.
The winners of the Friday games will punch their ticket to the Region 1-A tournament in addition to advancing.
On Saturday, No. 1 Hampton will take on the winner of the No. 4 Sullivan North and No. 5 Cloudland winter at 4:30p, and the winner of the No. 3 University High and No. 6 Unaka game will advance to take on No. 2 North Greene at 7:30p.
The District 1-A Championship game is set for Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 7:30p, and the consolation game is set for Tuesday at 6p.
