Unaka 8, University High 7 (Softball)
The Lady Rangers picked up a thrilling win in extra innings on Monday.

Unaka tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the fourth, and added single runs to their advantage in the fourth and fifth innings. UH, however, answered with four runs in the top of the seventh to take a lead.

The Lady Rangers responded with three runs of their own in the home side to force extras. In the eighth inning, Kiki Forney scored off a UH error to take the win.

Erika Potter and Lilie Kiser had three hits apiece. Madison Pierce had two hits for the Lady Ranger cause. Kendall Bare and Kiser had two RBIs each.

Kailey Wilson and Sadie Shoun split pitching duties in the circle as the duo combined to allow just four earned runs.


Elizabethton 6, Unicoi County 2 (baseball)
The Cyclones bookmarked a pair of Unicoi County wins to take a Monday win.

After EHS took a 3-0 lead in the home side of the second inning, the Blue Devils trimmed the gap to one run in the top of the fourth. Elizabethton, however, added three runs to their lead in the fifth to pull back out for the win.

Karson Dillard, Evan Perkins, Matthew Dailey, Jaden Anderson and Ashton Wilson each had a hit for EHS.

Evan Carter picked up the win on the mound as he allowed just two earned runs on four hits while striking out 13 batters.

Cloudland 11, Hampton 1 (softball)
The Lady ‘Landers rolled to a District 1-A win over county foe Hampton.

Jasmine Birchfield had three RBIs, while Heaven Caraway and Taylor Hicks also pushed runs across for CHS. Kenzie Birchfield pitched a gem in the circle as she struck out seven batters while allowing just two hits.
