Unaka took care of business on Monday.
The Lady Rangers dispatched Cloudland 8-0 on Senior Night on Stoney Creek.
With the win, Unaka claimed the District 1-A Championship with a perfect 8-0 mark.
After the Lady ‘Landers were unable to bring two baserunners across home plate in the top of the first, Unaka got on the board with a single run in the home side of the frame.
Cloudland was unable to get anything going in the second, and Unaka added two runs to push the lead to 3-0.
Both teams went three-up-three-down in the third and fourth innings. Cloudland continued to battle but was unable to break on the scoreboard in the fifth.
Unaka secured the win with three runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth.
Kendall Bare led Unaka as she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, while Kylie Blevins and Sadie Shoun had two hits.
Lyndie Ramsey and Jill Faust each added a hit.
Shoun picked up the win in the winner’s circle as she allowed just five hits with six strikeouts.
Ella Benfield led Cloudland as she went 2-for-3, while Caroline Shell, Saharra McKinney, and Ryan Turbyfill each had a hit.
Karah Fields struck out six Unaka batters.
