Rangers take win over Cloudland

Unaka used a strong sixth inning to their favor.

The Rangers picked up an 11-1 victory over Cloudland in Roan Mountain on Tuesday evening to take the district series.


The Rangers struck first in the top of the second inning as Bryson Street pushed Blake King across the plate. Neither team was able to get anything going until Unaka put a six-spot on the board in the top of the fourth to take a 7-0 lead.

Cloudland got on the board in the bottom of the fifth as Mark Tester hit a single to score Joe Trivette. The Rangers added four insurance runs in the final inning to account for the final score.

Unaka was paced by a 2-for-3 performance from Dakota Gallimore and a 2-for-4 performance from Justin Houghton. In all, the Rangers tallied 10 hits in the game.

Dillion Johnson led Cloudland with a 2-for-3 performance, while Logan Ingram, Preston Benfield and Tester went 1-for-3.

On the mound, John-Wesley Hardin picked up the win as he allowed just three hits with five strikeouts in four innings of work. Johnson was handed the loss for Cloudland.
