Tuesday Roundup: Lady Cyclones Upend Unicoi; Hampton Sweeps UH, While HV Drops Two At CD

Elizabethton 66, Unicoi County 51 (girls)
The Lady Cyclones took care of business.

After EHS held a 22-17 lead after a quarter of play, the Lady Cyclones outscored Unicoi 20-9 in the second to take full control.

Jamira Smalls and Addison Bunn had 20 points apiece. Rylee May added eight points.

Brooklynn led Unicoi with 10 points.

Hampton 65, University High 39 (girls)
The Lady Bulldogs jumped out early and rolled to a win.

Hannah Smith led the way with 16 points for Hampton, while Daisy Parks added 15 points. Gracie Jenkins added 13 points.

Maggie Ryder led UH with 20 points.

Chuckey-Doak 41, Happy Valley 40 (girls)
The Lady Warriors dropped a heartbreaker on Tuesday.

After a back-and-forth battle that saw the teams swap the lead and shots, the Lady Black Knights saw Cristen Bishop sink a free throw in the final second to secure the win despite a hard-fought HV effort.

Amilia Riddick had 15 points to pace the Lady Warriors, while Kymber Pruitt had 12 points. Addi More and Alex Moore added six and four points, respectively.

Hampton 72, University High 50
The Bulldogs pulled away in the second quarter and never looked back.

After holding a 14-12 lead after a quarter of play, Hampton quickly pushed the lead to 38-23 by the half. The Bulldogs took full control in the third by outscoring UH 25-15.

Chase Davenport led the way with 22 points, and Colby Clark had 19 points. Bryce Fagan had 10 points. Ezra Tolley and Jackson Smith scored six points apiece.

Jonson West led UH with 16 points.

Unicoi County 78, Elizabethton 71 (boys)
The Cyclones came up short on Tuesday night.

Nathan Bailey scored 20 points to pace the Orange and Black, while Evan Chambers scored 18 points. Hudson Pate added 13 points.

Justin Whitehead and Jackson Buckles added nine and six points, respectively.

Chuckey-Doak 63, Happy Valley 38 (boys)
The Warriors were unable keep pace with the Black Knights on Tuesday.

CD jumped out to a 13-7 lead after eight minutes of play. The Warriors continued to battle, but were unable to cut into the lead in the second quarter.

Lane Parker had nine points to lead HV, while Jackson Grindstaff had seven points. Stephen McVey, Mason Townsend, Zach Rose and Grady Gould added five points apiece.
