Unaka had a rough start to their state tournament run.

The Lady Rangers were unable to keep pace with a torrid offensive attack in a 10-0 loss to Goodpasture. The Lady Rangers will face the loser of Scotts Hill and Summertown in an elimination game on Wednesday morning.

The Lady Cougars set the tone early.

Goodpasture put four runs, three of which were unearned, on the board in the first inning, and added another run in the top of the second.

Unaka looked to get something going in the bottom of the fourth as Sarah Tipton hit a single to right field. However, the Lady Rangers were unable to keep the momentum going as they ended the frame scoreless.

Goodpasture added five runs in the fifth to secure the win.

Tipton went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Unaka.

Corie Schuttler allowed one earned run on five hits with four innings pitched.

Unaka is set to face either Scotts Hill or Summertown in the elimination game. First pitch is set for 10 a.m. CST.
