In a Region 1-A thriller, Unaka rallied but came up short late.

The Rangers rallied from a 26-8 first-half deficit, but were unable to answer a late touchdown as Unaka fell 40-36 to Sunbright on Stoney Creek.

After Sunbright jumped out to a 14-0 lead midway through the first quarter, Unaka answered as Jacob Carrier hit Ashton Fuller for a five-yard touchdown. Asher Dunn and Carrier added the two-point conversion to trim the lead to 14-8. After a quarter of play.

Sunbright added two scores in the second quarter and held a 26-8 advantage with three minutes left in the half.
The Rangers, however, battled back with a quick drive that was capped by a TJ Pareenteau touchdown on a sneak to close the gap.

Sunbright answered right before half as the Tigers held a 34-14 lead at the half.

In the second half, the Rangers battled back.

Carrier and Fuller connected for a touchdown pass, and the Rangers added the two-point conversion to trim into the lead.
Unaka closed the gap to 34-30 late in the third quarter as Brody Thompson caught a Carrier pass for a 34-yard touchdown, and UHS added the two-point conversion.

Unaka jumped into the lead with eight minutes to play as Dunn and Carrier connected for a 58-yard touchdown. The two-point conversion was unsuccessful, but the Rangers held a 36-34 lead.

Sunbright, however, answered to take a 40-36 lead with 6:14 left.

Unaka battled back and drove inside the Sunbright 10, but was stopped on fourth down with 20 seconds remaining.
