Unaka took care of business and left no doubt.
The Rangers rolled to a 64-0 victory over Cosby in Region 1-A action. With the win, Unaka clinched the No. 2 seed and a home playoff game.
It was all Unaka in the first half.
After recovering a fumble on an errant Cosby snap on a punt on the game’s opening drive, Unaka went to work quickly as Landon Ramsey scored from six yards out two plays later.
The Ranger defense forced a three-and-out, and Joe-Z Blamo caught a Ramsey pass on the next drive for a 36-yard touchdown.
Both squads were forced to punt as Unaka held a 14-0 lead after a quarter of play.
The second quarter was much the same.
While the Ranger defense made it tough for Cosby to get an inch, the offense started firing on all cylinders.
Ramsey added a four-yard score and also found Joe-Z Blamo for a 22-yard score in the stanza, while Jamol Blamo and TJ Thomas added rushing scores as UHS scored 28 points in the frame.
The Unaka defense held Cosby to 16 total offensive yards in the first half, while the Ranger offense rolled to 343 yards.
Thomas opened the scoring in the third quarter with a 41-yard run as the Rangers continued to stay on cruise control. Ryan Peters added the two-point conversion as UHS took a 50-0 advantage two minutes into the quarter.
Unaka capped the quarter with a 12-yard score from Ramsey.
In the fourth, Peters scored with a 15-yard run to account for the final.
Thomas finished with 121 yards on four carries, while Ramsey added 113 yards on 12 carries.
Ramsey ended the night 10-of-17 passing for 170 yards. Joe-z Blamo finished with five catches for 114 yards. A.J. Greenless, Joe-Z Blamo and Peters all recorded interceptions for the Rangers.
