Unaka ended the season on a high note.

The Rangers used a strong second quarter to take a 26-8 lead over Sunbright on Friday night on the road.

After the Tigers jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first quarter, the Rangers took control.
John Boy Ramsey opened the second quarter by hitting Devon Jarrett for a 43-yard touchdown pass, but the conversion attempt was unsuccessful as Unaka trailed 8-6.

After the Ranger defense forced a quick punt, Ramsey used his legs to find the end zone as he scored on an eight-yard run to give the Rangers a 12-8 advantage.

The teams traded punts until the final minute of the half as Ramsey and Jarrett connected for a 25-yard touchdown pass to send the Rangers into the half with an 18-8 lead.

In the third quarter, Daniel Shearl intercepted a Tiger pass deep in Sunbright territory to halt a drive. The teams continued to trade punts as the Rangers maintained a 10-point lead at the end of the third quarter.

Jarrett got in the intercepting act as he nabbed a Tiger pass at midfield. That interception set up an 11-yard touchdown run by Ramsey, and Logan Benway added the conversion to secure the win for Unaka.

With the win on Friday night, Unaka finished the 2018 campaign with a 3-7 record.
