Unaka was unable to keep pace with a torrid offensive attack on Friday night.

The Rangers dropped a 46-6 decision to Claiborne County in nonconference action on Stoney Creek.

The teams traded punts in the opening minutes before the Bulldogs got on the board midway through the quarter.Unaka moved the ball to midfield on the ensuing possession but was unable to sustain the drive.

After Claiborne extended their lead with two touchdowns in the second quarter, the Rangers took advantage of a Daniel Shearl interception.

Devin Ramsey found Landon Ramsey to move UHS inside the Claiborne 20-yard line. That set-up a L. Ramsey pass to Shearl for a 10-yard touchdown. The conversion was unsuccessful.

Claiborne, however, countered the score with a quick strike to take a 27-6 lead into the half.

Unaka continued to battle in the second half. Drew Smith had a long run early in the fourth to get Unaka into striking, and L. Ramsey connected with Shearl to get UHS into scoring position.

However, the Rangers were unable to strike and mount a rally in the closing minutes.
