Unaka took care of business in a dramatic fashion on Friday night.

The Rangers held on with a last-play goal-line stand to capture a 20-12 victory over North Greene in Baileyton.

Unaka made the Tundra feel like home in the early going.

Logan Benway scored the game’s opening touchdown on a five-yard scamper. The score was set-up after the Huskies tried a fake punt inside their own 15. John Boy Ramsey pushed the lead to 12-0 on a short touchdown run. The Rangers saw a safety push the lead to 14-0.

North Greene, however, answered late in the half by reeling off 12 straight points to close the gap to 14-12 at the half.

In the third quarter, a Devin Ramsey interception ended a North Greene drive that showed promise.

The Rangers got back in the end zone in the fourth as J. Ramsey scored his second touchdown of the night with just over five minutes to play.

North Greene, however, wasn’t going down without a fight. The Huskies were able to march down the field to get to the one-yard line in the closing seconds.

Unaka, however, stayed strong keeping the Huskies out of the end zone for three consecutive plays inside the five.

The Rangers will enjoy their bye week next Friday before traveling to Hancock County in Week 3 action.
