Unaka drops two at North Greene

Unaka was unable to get a road win on Friday night.

The Lady Rangers dropped a 48-31 decision to North Greene, while the Rangers dropped an 89-59 decision to the Huskies.


Unaka’s upset bid fell short in the girls’ game.

The Lady Rangers limited North Greene in the first quarter and held them to just three points in the first eight minutes.

The Lady Huskies, however, answered in the second quarter with a quick 7-0 run and ran out to a 21-10 halftime lead.

The Lady Rangers continued to battle in the second half but was unable to close the gap.

Lyndie Ramsey led Unaka with 19 points. The sophomore scored her 1,000 career point during the contest.

In the boys’ game, North Greene opened the game by running out to a 22-9 lead, but the Rangers closed back within nine midway through the second quarter.

North Greene, however, answered to thwart the upset bid as the Huskies ended the first half on a 13-9 run and started the second half on an 11-0 run.

The Rangers continued to battle, but was unable to cut into the NG lead.

Joe Blamo had 17 points to lead Unaka. Will Sexton added 14 points.
