A Unaka rally came up short on Friday night.

The Rangers battled back from a 20-0 deficit but fell 26-14 to North Greene in Baileyton.

North Greene took advantage of a Unaka miscue early. After a Ranger snap went out of the end zone for a safety, NG’s Matt Priolo took the ensuing kick for a touchdown to give NG an 8-0 lead. The Huskies pushed the lead to 14-0 in the closing seconds of the first quarter.

The Rangers continued to battle but was unable to get on the scoreboard in the second. A pick-six gave NG a 20-0 lead at the half.

Bryson Street gave Unaka a spark early in the second half.

Street stopped a Husky runner in the end zone for a safety. Devon Jarrett took the ensuing kick for a big gain. From there, John Boy Ramsey found Blake Issacs for a 15-yard score to close the Ranger deficit to 20-8.

The Unaka defense came out fired up and forced a NG three-and-out. Ramsey and Isaacs connected again as UHS pulled within six points.

North Greene, however, added a score early in the fourth to stop the Unaka run.
