Unaka’s D. Ramsey named Climate Controllers Player of the Week

A performance for the record books earned the Climate Controllers Player of the Week edged out a strong field of performers.

Unaka’s Devin Ramsey has been named the Climate Controllers Player of the Week for Week 8 with his performance in the Rangers’ win over Hancock County.

Ramsey finished with five touchdown receptions – which is fourth in state history. The junior tied for second in the state record books with four touchdown catches in the first half.

Ramsey finished the game with 14 catches for 280 yards.

Defensively, Ramsey had 11 total tackles including three tackles for loss.

Ramsey joins teammate Daniel Shearl as Climate Controllers Player of the Week honorees this season.

Other selections this season include Seth Birchfield (Cloudland), Eli Preswood (Cloudland), Parker Hughes (Elizabethton), Bryson Rollins (Elizabethton), Conor Jones (Hampton) and Matthew Bahn (Happy Valley).

The Rangers are slated to return to action on Oct. 30 after their next two games were canceled due to COVID-19 concerns.
