It was a heavyweight fight in Elizabethton. Unfortunately, the Cyclones were unable to deliver the last blow. Elizabethton came up short in their quest for the Three Rivers Conference title on Thursday night as they fell 28-21 to Sullivan South. It was an epic battle in Hampton on Thursday night, and it was the Bulldogs that came out on top. Hampton took advantage of Cloudland special team miscues and held on late to take a 22-20 victory over the ‘Landers at JC Campbell Stadium. The win gave the Bulldogs the Mountain East Conference title, while Cloudland will take the region’s second automatic bid. Neither team was able to get anything going in the first quarter. It was a winning note for the Warriors on Thursday night. The Warriors got back in the win column on Thursday night as they dispatched Sullivan North 27-21. The Warriors held a 20-14 advantage at the half, and powered ahead for the victory. Happy Valley finishes the season 2-8. Thomas earns third Player of the Week honor

When it came down to it, the choice was clear for the Week 9 Applebee’s Player of the Week. Elizabethton’s Ethan Thomas carried the Cyclones to a victory over Unicoi County on Friday night to earn his third selection as the Applebee’s of Elizabethton Player of the Week. Thomas had six touchdowns on the night as he ran for 211 yards on 19 carries. The senior enters Week 10 with 33 touchdowns and surpassed the 6,000-yard total for his career on Friday night.
