With convincing wins on Friday night, three Carter County teams were ranked inside the AP Top 10 for their respective classes. Elizabethton joined Cloudland and Hampton inside the top 10.
The Cyclones moved into the poll in the No. 10 spot in Class 4A. Shawn Witten’s club tied for the 10th spot with Signal Mountain with 20 points. Knox Fulton remained No. 1 with 16-of-17 first-place votes. Elizabethton’s Week 10 opponent Sullivan South jumped a spot to No. 7, while Greeneville remained ranked at No. 4.
In Class 2A, Hampton jumped up a spot to No. 7 in this week’s version of the poll. The Bulldogs, who dispatched South Greene handily on Friday night, recorded one first-place vote to finish with 70 total points, just one point off No. 6 Peabody. Trinity Christian Academy claimed 15 first place votes to remain in the top spot, while possible Hampton playoff quad mates Oneida and Grace Christian were ranked No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.
Cloudland remained steady at No. 7 in the Class A poll. The ‘Landers, who dispatched Hancock County on Friday night, recorded 70 points Union City continued to hold down the top spot, while possible Cloudland playoff quad members Greenback and Coalfield ranked No. 6 and No. 10, respectively.
Cloudland and Hampton square off on Thursday night at Hampton with the conference title on the line. Elizabethton will host Sullivan South on Thursday with the Three Rivers Conference title going to the winner.
