Unaka came up just shy of a district title on Thursday.

The Lady Rangers were unable to slide back ahead of North Greene in a 3-1 decision in the District 1-A Tournament Championship game in Greeneville.

Unaka will travel to Greenback on Monday for the Region 1-A semifinal, while North Greene will host Cosby.

It was a defensive battle from the first pitch as runs were hard to come by.

North Greene struck first in the top of the fourth with a solo home run, but the Lady Rangers answered as Kailey Wilson hit a sacrifice fly to bring Noelle Collins across home plate.

Unaka, however, were unable to capitalize on baserunners as the inning ended in a 1-1 stalemate.

The Lady Huskies regained the lead in the fifth when they took advantage of a sacrifice bunt to bring a run across the plate.

Unaka continued to battle but was unable to get a runner aboard in the fifth or sixth inning, and NG added a run to their lead in the away side of the seventh with a solo home run.

The Lady Rangers were unable to mount a rally in the final frame.
Trinity Bowers and Lyndie Ramsey were both 2-for-3 at the plate, while Collins added a hit.

Wilson was handed the loss in the circle despite allowing just one earned run on one hit in four innings of work. Sadie Shoun allowed just one earned run on one hit in three innings of work.
