It was a thriller on Stoney Creek Friday night.

Landon Ramsey scored with just over two minutes remaining as Unaka captured a thrilling 14-12 victory over Clairborne at Goddard Field.

With the win, the Rangers improve to 5-2 on the season.

Points were hard to come by all game long.

The Ranger defense forced the Bulldogs off the field after a lengthy drive stalled out at the Unaka 13 as the quarter ended with the teams scoreless.

Claiborne got on the scoreboard first in the opening minutes of the second quarter as Tyrell Miles had a scoop and scored from 15 yards out.

Unaka, however, capitalized on a Claiborne fumble that set the Rangers up inside the Bulldog 10.

Ramsey put the Rangers on the board with an eight-yard run and added the two-point conversion as Unaka took an 8-6 lead midway through the stanza.

The Bulldogs battled back to take a 12-8 advantage into the half as Josh Bolton scored on a short run in the final minute of the half.

In the third quarter, Unaka’s defense kept Claiborne out of the endzone despite some lengthy drives, and the teams traded possessions as the score remain unchanged heading into the final 12 minutes

The Rangers continued to battle and got something offensively late in the game. With hard running from Jamol Blamo getting Unaka in scoring position, L. Ramsey scored on a short touchdown run with just over two minutes to play.

The Bulldogs looked to battle back, but the Ranger defense held strong deep in their own territory in the closing seconds to secure the win with big plays from Jamol Blamo and TJ Thomas.

Unaka is set to return to action next Friday with a trip to Cosby.
