Unaka was unable to complete a rally on Tuesday night.

The Rangers nearly erased a nine-point deficit but saw a game-tying shot miss the mark in the closing seconds as Unaka fell 51-48 to Sullivan North in the District 1-A Consolation game.

Unaka will open the Region 1-A tournament on Saturday on the road at Cosby.

It was a back-and-forth battle on Tuesday night for the Rangers.

Unaka jumped out to a 13-9 lead at the end of the first quarter, and then maintained a slim 26-24 lead at the half.

The Raiders came out of gate hot to open the second half as North outscored Unaka 19-8 in the third quarter to take a 43-34 lead after three complete quarters.

Unaka, however, wasn’t deterred as the Rangers slowly chipped at the Raider lead. The Rangers had a chance to tie the game but were unable to force an extra period.

Will Sexton had 25 points to lead the Rangers. Joe Blamo and Landon Ramsey had seven points apiece, while Devin Ramsey added six points.
