Three county teams remain ranked in AP poll

A trio of Carter County teams remained ranked in the AP Prep Football poll.

In Class 3A, Elizabethton moved up a spot to No. 4 after dispatching Pigeon Forge on Friday. The Cyclones tallied 105 points – 19 points behind No. 3 CAK.


Alcoa remained the unanimous No. 1 with 16 first-place votes. Sequatchie Co. moved to No. 2.

Class 2A saw Happy Valley moved to No. 6, while Hampton moved to No. 9 after the Warriors thrilling 17-16 victory on Friday night. HV tallied 85 points including a first-place vote. Hampton had 39 points in the poll.

Adamsville claimed 14 of 16 first-place votes to remain at No. 1. Marion County and Forest rounded out the top two.

Elizabethton is set to host Claiborne County, while Happy Valley (at North Greene) and Hampton (at Sullivan North) will travel on Friday night.
