Bowers Boots Betsy Past West Ridge in Come-From-Behind Win

Elizabethton rallied in a big way on Friday night.

Will Bowers hit a 38-yard field goal as time expired to lift Elizabethton to a 24-21 victory over West Ridge on the road. EHS erased a 21-7 deficit to take the win.

Elizabethton jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter as Peyton Lingerfelt scored on a 3-yard run.

West Ridge battled back in the second quarter as Jackson Price scored on a 24-yard run to even things up.
Justice Hilton gave West Ridge a 14-7 lead late in the second with a 73-yard run.

Elizabethton trailed 14-7 at the break.

After Hilton pushed the Wolves’ advantage to 21-7, the Cyclones refused to go quietly.

William McDuffie scored on a two-yard run to trim into the West Ridge lead. The Elizabethton defense picked up a huge stop inside their own five as they recovered a West Ridge fumble.

EHS evened things up with six minutes to play as Ryan Jones caught a Lingerfelt pass for a seven-yard touchdown. That set the stage for Bowers’ game-winner.

Lingerfelt was 8-of-15 passing for 111 yards, and also added 31 yards on the ground.
