The road to Murfreesboro is set.
The brackets for the Region tournaments are set with action slated to start on Friday, Feb. 28 with the girls’ quarterfinals while the boys’ quarterfinals are set for Saturday, Feb. 29. All quarterfinal games will be held at the higher seed and start at 7p.
Region 1-A is set to be contested at Walters State Community College in Morristown, while Region 1-AA is set to be played at Grainger County.
Teams must advance to their respective Regional Championships in order to earn a sectional berth.
For the Region 1-A girls, District 1-No. 3 Unaka will open play at District 2-No.2 Greenback Friday night with the winner advancing to play the winner of District 1-No. 1 North Greene will host District 2-No. 4 Hancock County at 6p on Monday, March 2.
The bottom half of the bracket will see District 1-No. 2 Cloudland host District 2-No. 3 Washburn in quarterfinal action, while District 1-No. 4 Hampton will travel to District 2-No. 1 Cosby. The two winners will meet in the 7:30p semifinal on Monday, March 2.
In Region 1-AA girls, Elizabethton claimed the top seed from District 1 and will host District 2-No. 4 Cumberland Gap on Friday night. The winner will move on to face the winner of District 2-No. 2 South Greene and District 1-No. 3 Johnson County on Monday, March 2 at 6p.
The bottom part of the bracket sees D1-No. 1 Grainger hosting D1-No. 4 Sullivan East and D1-No. 2 Sullivan Central hosting D2-No. 3 Greeneville with the winners meeting up at 7:30p on March 2.
The Regional Championships in the girls’ brackets are set for Wednesday, March 4 with tipoffs slated for 7p.
On the bottom half of the boys’ Region 1-A bracket, District 1- No. 4 Cloudland will travel to District 2 – No. 1 Cosby on Friday, while District 1- No. 2 Hampton will host District 2- No. 3 Hancock County. The two winners will meet up in the regional semifinals at 7:45p on Tuesday, March 3.
The top half of the bracket has District 1-No. 1 University School hosting District 2- No. 4 Washburn and District 2 – No. 2 Jellico playing host to District 1– No. 3 North Greene. That semifinal is set for 6p on Tuesday, March 3.
