Two Carter County athletes were selected as finalists for Mr. Basketball and Miss Basketball on Thursday.
Hampton’s Cadon Buckles was selected as a finalist for Class A Mr. Basketball, while Unaka’s Lyndie Ramsey was selected as a finalist for Class A Miss Basketball.
Buckles is continuing to receive recognition for his historic season.
Buckles was joined by North Greene’s Jason Britton and Middleton’s Rodgerick Robinson.
For the season, Buckles is averaging 24 points per game along with four rebounds, three assists and two steals per game. He is averaging a 56% field goal percentage.
Ramsey continues to add accolades to her storied career.
Ramsey was joined by Wayne County’s Blair Baugus and McKenzie’s Kylie Reynolds as finalists.
The senior has had an incredible career for the Lady Rangers.
So far this season, she is averaging 29 points per game with 10 rebounds per game. Her season high is 49. She has tallied 751 points so far this season.
She is the leading scorer – both boys and girls – for Carter County basketball.
The Mr. and Miss Basketball Awards will be presented on Monday, March 13 at the Murphy Center.
