Hampton was able to battle past Johnson County in a rivalry contest.
The Bulldogs were able to get some separation in the second half to take a 36-20 victory over the Longhorns at Happy Valley on Friday night.
With the win, Hampton improves to 2-0 on the year.
Connor McKinney had 14 carries for 93 yards and a score while going 4-of-6 passing for 72 yards and three touchdowns to lead Hampton.
Brock Shelby caught three of those passes for 45 yards and two scores, while Sage Milhorn had a touchdown catch.
Peyton Townsend added 86 yards on 13 carries and a score. Isaiah Belcher also added 58 yards for Hampton.
Johnathan Lisi led the Longhorns with two touchdowns as he went 7-of-18 passing for 187 yards while also adding a score on the ground. Chris Wilson had three catches for 96 yards and two touchdowns. Jack Csillag had four catches for 91 yards.
After the teams traded punts to open the game, Hampton opened the scoring as Milhorn capped a nine-play drive with a 27-yard touchdown catch off the McKinney pass. Belcher added the two-point conversion as HHS took an 8-0 lead into the second quarter.
The Hampton defense forced Johnson County off the field with a three-and-out, and Peyton Townsend capped a quick drive with a five-yard touchdown.
Johnson County, however, battled back.
Lisi and Wilson connected on a 53-yard touchdown to get JC on the board, and the Longhorns closed the gap to 14-12 at the half with a late touchdown on a Lisi run from two yards out.
In the third quarter, the teams traded fourth down stops before the Bulldogs extended the lead with a 30-yard run from McKinney.
Hampton pushed the lead out to 16 points as Shelby and McKinney connected for a 10-yard touchdown with 8:55 left.
The Bulldog defense kept Johnson County at bay, and the Bulldog offense added a 15-yard touchdown pass from McKinney to Shelby to account for the final Bulldog score.
Wilson and Lisi scored on a 10-yard pass in the closing seconds for Johnson County.
Hampton is set to open Region 1-A play with a trip to Sunbright in Week 3.
