Bulldogs Come Up Short In District 1-2A Tournament

In a heavyweight battle, Hampton came up short.
The Bulldogs were unable to answer a big third quarter from South Greene as the Bulldogs fell 75-60 to the Rebels in the District 1-2A Semifinals at Daniel Boone on Friday evening.
With the loss, Hampton falls into the District 1-2A Consolation game on Tuesday night against West Greene, while South Greene will take on Chuckey-Doak in the District 1-2A Championship game.
It was a battle from the opening tip.
The teams traded shots in the opening quarter as the Bulldogs held a 16-14 lead after a quarter of play. It was much the same in the second, but the Rebels were able to edge out to a 33-29 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, it was all South Greene.
The Rebels scored the first six points of the half and used a 16-1 run, and South Greene took a 64-44 lead into the final quarter.
Hampton continued to battle in the fourth quarter but was unable to make a rally in the closing minutes.
Hayden Campbell had 21 points to lead Hampton. Michael Anspaugh scored 15 points.
Jase Roderick scored 18 points to pace SG, while Chandler Gamble scored 17 points.
