Hampton opened the Region 1-A tournament with a statement.
The Bulldogs rolled to an 85-41 victory over Washburn in the quarterfinals of the Region 1-A Tournament in Hampton on Saturday night. Hampton advances to Tuesday’s semifinals, where they will take on Hancock County at 7:45p at Washburn.
The Bulldogs took control early.
Hampton saw Tuff Robinson and Colby Clark score early points as HHS took a 9-0 lead in the opening minutes. The Bulldogs ended the half on a 9-1 run to push the advantage to 22-7 after a quarter of play.
Chase Davenport opened the second with a 3-pointer, and the Bulldogs went on a 15-4 run to push the lead out. Hampton saw Robisnon end the half with seven straight as HHS held a 50-22 lead into the half.
Any thought of a Washburn comeback was quickly erased as Hampton opened the second half on a 12-2 run. Hampton led 73-42 after three complete quarters.
Clark led the way with 26 points, while Robinson added 20 points. Bryce Fagan scored 15 points. Davenport scored 12 points – including his 1,000th career point.
