Hampton baseball is heading back to the sectional round.

The Bulldogs earned a spot in the Class A Sectionals with a 5-1 victory over Washburn in the Region 1-A Consolation game. Hampton fell 10-0 in the Championship game to University High.

The Bulldogs will travel to Coalfield for the best-of-three series in the sectional round. It is Hampton’s first time back to the sectional round since 2022. The first game is set for 3p on Wednesday with the second game at 5p. The if-necessary game is set for Thursday.

In the consolation game, Hampton struck early.

Eli Henson hit a sacrifice fly to push Colby Clark across home plate to give Hampton a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.

After Washburn evened things up in the third, Hampton broke through in the seventh.
Henson hit an inside the park home run to left field that also allowed Eland Henson and Brock Shelby to score. The Bulldogs added an additional run in the next at bat as Jayden Kuhn hit a home run over the left field fence.

Washburn was able to get a runner on base, but the Bulldogs were able to keep the Pirates at bay to secure the win.

Eli Henson had four RBI to pace HHS. Kuhn had two hits and an RBI, and Cash Royston, Cade Nelson, and Clark had two hits apiece.

On the mound, Eli Henson pitched a gem as she allowed one earned run on one hit with three strikeouts.

In the championship game, the Bulldogs were unable to keep pace with the Bucs.
