Cloudland celebrated Senior Night in style.
The ‘Landers rolled to a 55-0 victory over Unaka in Region 1-A play in Roan Mountain on Friday night.
Walker Gouge led the way for Cloudland as the senior had a receiving touchdown, a rushing touchdown, a defensive touchdown, and a punt return for a touchdown. Gouge ended the game with 59 yards on two carries and two catches for 57 yards.
Landon Barnette was the leading rusher for Cloudland with 70 yards on three carries with a score, while William Polechio had six carries for 67 yards.
Bryce Birchfield went 4-for-7 passing for 88 yards and two touchdowns. Birchfield also added seven extra points – a new program record for extra points in a game. Brian Russell and Mack Greene previously held the mark with six extra points in a game.
Brayden Otey had four completions for the Rangers, with Ashton Fuller having two catches.
Cloudland opened the scoring quickly as Birchfield and Gouge connected for an 18-yard touchdown. The ‘Landers added a touchdown later in the quarter as Gouge intercepted a Unaka pass and returned it 65 yards for a score. Barnette and Gouge added rushing touchdowns – 29 and 33 yards, respectively – as the ‘Landers held a 28-0 lead after a quarter of play.
Grayson Cole caught a 20-yard pass from Birchfield to open the second quarter scoring.
After Gouge added a 32-yard punt return for a score, Birchfield added a five-yard touchdown to send Cloudland to the half with a 49-0 lead.
Polechio had a 10-yard touchdown in the final quarter to cap the scoring.
