Cloudland, Hampton and Elizabethton Remain Ranked In AP Poll

The stage is set for another top ten ranked battle inside the county

Three Carter County teams are ranked in this week’s edition of the Tennessee AP Prep Football poll.

In Class 2A, Hampton held steady at No. 3 after rolling past Avery County (N.C.) on Friday night. The Bulldog earned one first-place vote and garnered 99 points – just 13 points behind No. 2 Trousdale County.

Meigs County remained ranked No. 1 in the poll.

In Class A, Cloudland improved to No. 6 after an off week. The ‘Landers, who also received a first-place vote, had 59 points to narrowly miss the top five.

Peabody, Fayetteville, and South Pittsburg held down the top three spots.

Hampton and Cloudland are set to meet on Friday night in a ranked county clash at Orr Field.

In Class 4A, Elizabethton moved to No. 3 after Friday night’s loss to Greeneville – who jumped to No. 1. The Cyclones tallied 98 points and were just eight points behind No. 2 Tullahoma.

Pearl-Cohn and South Doyle rounded out the top five.

The Cyclones are set to host Daniel Boone for homecoming on Friday night.
