Cloudland moves to No. 2, Hampton falls to No. 7 in AP poll

Carter County Schools saw Cloudland and Hampton remain in the AP Top 10 this week in the weekly poll.

The Highlanders jumped up a spot to No. 2 after Friday night’s 47-0 victory over Unaka. Cloudland claimed two first place votes to tally 146 points. Union City claimed 16 first place votes to lead the poll with 178 points. Last week’s No. 2 Greenback fell 14-7 to Onieda. Nashville Christian School and Wayne County finished the poll in third and fourth, while Columbia Academy and Greenback tied for fifth.

Hampton fell from No. 5 to No. 7 in Class 2A after an off week last weekend. The Bulldogs tailed 67 points in the poll. Trinity Christian Academy holds all 18 first place votes to record a perfect score of 180, while Adamsville, Grace Christian and Peabody make up the rest of the top four. Hampton, along with six other teams, holds the best record 4-1.

Cloudland will hit the road to Tri-Cities Christian on Friday night, while Hampton will travel to Johnson County.
