Cyclones Cruise Past East

Elizabethton jumped out early and never looked back.

The Cyclones rolled to a 56-21 win over Sullivan East in Region 1-4A play inside Citizens Bank Stadium on Friday night. It was Elizabethton’s seventh straight win as EHS improved to 7-1 overall and 5-0 in region play.

EHS opened the scoring on its second offensive drive of the night as Brycen Blevins threw a screen to Zach Wallin for a 39-yard touchdown. After EHS blocked a punt, CJ Mathes scored on a three-yard run to give the Cyclones a 14-0 lead.

Elizabethton pushed the lead to 21-0 when Blevins found Jack Blevins for a 14-yard touchdown, but East connected on a 65-yard touchdown pass.

The Cyclones, however, answered quickly as Mathes scored on a short run – a score that was set up on a 41-yard catch from Justius Wallen on a pass from Blevins. Blevins found Braylon Britt for a touchdown, and Jaiden Wallin added a score late in the half as Elizabethton maintained a 42-14 halftime lead.

Elizabethton continued to have the momentum in the second half as Z. Wallin caught a short pass for a touchdown, while Ju. Wallin returned a deflected punt to account for the final Elizabethton score.

Blevins ended the game 18-of-21 for 252 yards and four touchdowns.
