It was all Elizabethton on Friday night.
The Cyclones scored early and often in the first half and rolled to a 56-0 victory over Volunteer in Region 1-4A action on Friday night inside Citizens Bank Stadium.
With the win, Elizabethton improved to 8-0 on the year, and the win sets the stage for a de facto Region 1-4A championship game with Greeneville on Friday, Oct. 27.
It was all Elizabethton.
The Cyclones took four offensive plays to open the scoring as Zeth Mullins ran in from 25 yards out, and Will Bowers added the extra point.
Jeriah Griffin struck on a punt return as he raced 67 yards for a touchdown, and EHS pushed the lead to 21-0 after a quarter of play as Rhett Slagle hit Luke Whaley for a 36-yard touchdown.
Elizabethton ran just five offensive plays in the first quarter.
While the Cyclone defense continued to stymie the Falcons, the EHS offense kept rolling.
Cameron Baker caught a 36-yard pass from Slage for a touchdown, while Slagle hit Whaley for a six-yard score to push the lead to 35-0.
Eli Blevins and Slagle connected for a 28-yard touchdown later in the quarter, and Zeth Mullins capped the first-half scoring with a three-yard touchdown.
Elizabethton led 49-0 at the half.
In the third quarter, Mason Ball caught a 14-yard pass from Slage to cap the scoring.
Slagle ended the game 9-of-10 for 188 yards.
Blevins had 61 receiving yards, while Baker had 51 receiving yards.
Holzer had seven carries for 55 yards, while Mullins had 51 yards on six carries.
Elizabethton tallied 302 yards while the defense held Volunteer to just 51 offensive yards.
