Cyclones Fall To Greeneville

Elizabethton was unable to keep pace on Thursday night.

The Cyclones dropped a 48-7 decision to Greeneville in the regular season finale inside Burley Stadium in Region 1-4A play. With the loss, Elizabethton moved to the No. 2 seed from Region 1-4A for the upcoming playoffs.

The Greene Devils opened the game quickly as Cole Franklin caught a screen pass and raced 81 yards for the touchdown. Maddox Bishop added a 21-yard touchdown run late in the quarter to give GHS a 13-0 lead after a quarter of play.

The Cyclones continued to battle, but Greeneville scored 35 points in the second to remain in complete control.

Elizabethton got on the board in the third quarter as Brycen Blevins found Zach Wallin for a 13-yard touchdown. William Bowers added the extra point.

Blevins was 12-of-20 passing for 124 yards, while CJ Mathes had 31 yards on five carries. Justius Wallin had six catches for 63 yards. Z. Wallin added three catches for 50 yards.

Caden Baugh led Greeneville with 335 yards of total offense and four touchdowns.
