Elizabethton was unable to keep pace with one of the state’s top teams on Saturday.
The Cyclones fell 81-59 to Greeneville in the Region 1-3A quarterfinals in Greeneville. With the loss, Elizabethton’s season comes to a close.
EHS had to battle back from an early deficit as Greeneville jumped out to a 19-4 lead after a quarter of play.
Elizabethton was able to get the offense going in the second quarter with 19 points but was unable to cut into the GHS lead as the Cyclones trailed 45-23 at the half.
Elizabethton continued to battle in the second half but was unable to rally.
Andrew Barnett had 17 points to lead Elizabethton. Zach Wallin added 10 points, while Nathan Bailey scored seven points.
Zaydyn Anderson had 20 points to pace Greeneville.
