It wasn’t pretty, but the Cyclones will take it.

Elizabethton forced five turnovers to pick up a 14-6 non conference victory over Daniel Boone on Friday night in Gray. The win moves the Cyclones to 2-1 on the year.

After a scoreless first quarter, sophomore Corey Russell broke through the offensive line and ran 33 yards for a touchdown. That have EHS a 7-0 advantage.

After a DB turnover, sophomore Carter Everett gave the Cyclones a 14-0 lead at the half on a nine-yard run.

The Trailblazers, however, weren’t going to go down without a fight.

Mouin Tannous scored to put Boone on the board. However, the Elizabethton defense continued to hold firm to preserve the win for EHS.

Russell had 12 carries for 96 yards in addition to 28 yards receiving on four passes.

Overall, the Cyclone defense held the Trailblazers to 179 yards of offense. Everett added 43 yards on the ground while going 9-of-17 passing with 69 yards.

Elizabethton will host Unicoi County next Friday night.
