Elizabethton took care of business on Friday night.
The Cyclones captured a 28-0 victory over Volunteer inside Citizens Bank Stadium.
EHS set the tone early.
On the opening drive of the game, the Cyclones went 76 yards and scored when William McDuffie scored on a six-yard touchdown run. William Bowers added the extra point to give EHS a 7-0 lead.
After the EHS defense forced Volunteer off the field quickly, C.J. Mathes scored on a short run early in the second quarter as Elizabethton took a 14-0 lead.
The Cyclones took a 21-0 lead into the half as Peyton Lingerfelt hit Ryan Jones for a 21-yard touchdown run.
In the second half, the Elizabethton defense continued to limit Volunteer. EHS capped the scoring in the fourth quarter as Mathes scored on an eight-yard run.
McDuffie finished with 18 carries for 118 yards. Lingerfelt was 9-of-12 for 80 yards.
