Elizabethton took care of business in the District 1-3A semifinals Saturday.
The No. 3 Cyclones captured a 54-40 win over No. 2 David Crockett at Sullivan East in District 1-3A tournament play. With the win, Elizabethton advances to Tuesday’s District 1-3A Championship game against the winner of Saturday night’s semifinal between No. 1 Tennessee High and No. 4 Daniel Boone.
Jackson Buckles powered the Cyclones in the opening frame as he tallied eight points in the frame, as EHS took a 17-7 lead after a quarter of play. In the second quarter, Elizabethton was unable to add to the lead as Crockett trimmed the lead to 26-19 at the half.
The Cyclones, however, took control again in the third.
Nathan Bailey scored 11 points in the quarter as EHS outscored the Pioneers 20-8 in the frame. EHS maintained a 46-27 advantage after three complete quarters.
The fourth quarter saw the Cyclones able to keep Crockett at bay to secure the win.
Bailey led Elizabethton with 17 points. Buckles scored 16 points, while Evan Chambers added 11 points.
Caleb Eaves led Crockett with 22 points.
