A day delay didn’t deter the Elizabethton baseball team.

The Cyclones claimed the District 1-AA Baseball title with a 3-1 victory over Sullivan South on Saturday. With the win, EHS will host a first round Region 1-AA game on Monday.

Elizabethton had to battle from behind on Saturday as the Rebels took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Cyclones answered the run in the top of the third as L. Estep scored off a Ryan Wetzel fielders choice.
Elizabethton took their first lead of the game in the fourth. Michael Robinson scored off a Brodie Adams sacrifice. The lead grew to 3-1 when Evan Carter crossed home plate off a Michael Dailey single.

The Cyclones were unable to grow the lead, but the defense stayed strong to keep the Rebels off the board the rest of the way.

On the mound, Adams pitched an outstanding complete game as he allowed just one earned run on four hits.

Carter went 1-for-2 at the plate. Wetzel and Dailey went 1-for-3, while Robinson added a hit.
