Cyclones pull away from Johnson County; Lady Cyclones fall

The Elizabethton boys’ basketball team kept trucking on Friday night.

The Cyclones rolled to a 71-59 victory over Johnson County. The Lady Cyclones, however, dropped a 49-35 decision to the Lady Longhorns.

In the boys game, it was a back-and-forth affair through the first two quarters as neither team was able to get any substantial lead. Johnson County held a 32-28 lead at the half.

Elizabethton, however, took control in the third quarter. The Cyclones outscored the Longhorns 15-4 in the quarter and never looked back en route to remain undefeated.

Eric Wilson had 21 points to lead EHS, while Nico Ashley added 19 points. Evan Perkins scored 15 points for the Cyclone cause.

Biake Atwood led Johnson County with 26 points.

In the girls game, Kaylen Shell tallied 23 points for the Lady Cyclones. However, EHS was unable to keep pace late with the Johnson County offensive attack.

Abbey Townsend also added five points for Elizabethton.
