Cyclones Ranked, Cloudland And Hampton Receive Votes In AP Poll

The final Tennessee Prep AP Poll of the 2023 regular season featured a ranked Carter County team as well as a pair of teams who received votes.

In Class 4A, Elizabethton moved to No. 5 after last week’s loss to Greeneville – who jumped to No. 3. EHS tallied 76 points and came in 13 points behind a tie for the No. 3 spot between Hardin County and Greeneville.

Pearl-Cohn came in at No. 1 while Upperman came in at No. 2.

In Class 2A, Hampton received votes as they were just one point behind No. 10 Mitchell. The Bulldogs had 10 points in the poll after pulling away from South Greene in the regular season finale.

Region 2’s York Institute remained in the No. 1 spot with Marion County and Huntingdon in the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, respectively.

In Class A, Cloudland received votes and was 14 points behind No. 10 Oliver Springs. CHS held off Unaka in a Thursday night clash in the final week of the season.

South Pittsburg held down the No. 1 spot, while Dresden and Moore County checked in at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.
