Elizabethton used a strong rushing attack to roll to a win on Friday night.
The Cyclones picked up a 42-14 win over Seymour in Region 1-4A play inside Citizens Bank Stadium. With the win, Elizabethton will take on Greeneville on Thursday night with the Region 1-4A title on the line.
The Cyclones scored on the opening drive as CJ Mathes scored on a 21-yard run in the opening minutes. The Eagles, however, answered on their first drive to even things up.
EHS took a 14-7 lead into the second quarter as Justius Wallin scored on a short run for the Orange and Black.
In the closing minute of the second quarter, Elizabethton pushed the lead to 21-7 with a Wallin touchdown run from eight yards out.
After Seymour opened the third quarter scoring, Mathes capped off an Elizabethton drive with a three-yard run to extend the lead back out.
Elizabethton led 28-14 after three complete quarters.
Mathes and Wallin added touchdown runs in the fourth to secure the win for Elizabethton.
Mathes had 16 carries for 121 yards to pace Elizabethton. As a team, Elizabethton had 262 rushing yards.
Brycen Blevins went 10-of-11 passing for 94 yards.
