Elizabethton pulled away in the second quarter and never looked back.
The Cyclones pulled away for an 81-55 victory over Grainger in the Region 1-3A Quarterfinals on Saturday inside Treadway Gymnasium. With the win, Elizabethton advances to the Region 1-3A semifinals on Tuesday at Grainger, where they will take on Greeneville.
After the Cyclones led 18-12 after a quarter of play, Nathan Bailey sparked EHS in the second quarter as EHS went on a 12-0 run to get some separation. That allowed the Cyclones to take a 38-23 lead at the half.
Elizabethton outscored Grainger 20-9 in the third to lead no doubt.
Evan Chambers and Bailey led Elizabethton with 20 points apiece. Justin Whitehead added 18 points. Jackson Buckles and Hudson Pate scored nine points apiece.
